Lori Marra
playwright

With no formal training from the powerhouse schools like Yale, Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Tisch, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, ACTS, Northwestern, Brown, UCLA (and any others we can type in here to optimize her site for search engines), she did rigorously study on her own and at Rochester NY's Writer's and Books. She continues to take classes, read, study and work at the craft.

She has also had several of her plays read and produced throughout the United States.

The Spokane Civic Theatre produced Lori's one act play,
No Smoking. That same year, the play also received a reading at Rochester's Shipping Dock Theatre.

Lori has won the the Geva Regional Playwrights competition for her play Mystic Castle, a drama about the serial killer Arthur Shawcross.

She has served as dramaturg for Lynn Nottage's Sweat, and is serving that role on a world premiere play about AIDS.

Her works have appeared in many festivals including most recently the Rochester Fringe Festival. Lori has studied with Jeffrey Sweet, Lynn Nottage, and Terrace McNally. She is a proud member of the Dramatist Guild and the International Centre for Women Playwrights.

She is the founder and creative director of Blue Ink Playwrights, a production company dedicated to women leaders in theatre.
